Hundreds Of OAU Accounting Students Get IFRS Certificate
Over 300 Students of the Accounting of the Obafemi Awolowo University ile - Ife was yesterday 15th August, 2015 certified an IFRS compliance persons.
The Students of management and accounting under the auspices of Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association NUASA OAU chapter got certified in an IFRS program by the association. This program is supported by Nigerian Institute Of Management NIM.
Fully educative training in IFRS was facilitated by a renowned specialist in the financial reporting industry Mr. A. A Akiode(ACA) , a graduate of the prestigious Fate Foundation School of entrepreneurship and a Chartered Management Practitioner (CMP) with the Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered (NIM) where he has designed and delivered specialized trainings on: Introduction to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
The training, which was kick-started at about 1pm and ended 7:00pm at the Humanity Auditorium of the OAU received students from outside the Accounting department . Kunle Akiode, is the Principal Consultant to NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration) Finance Department; on the implementation of IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) and Understanding Statement Of Cash Flow held at Crystal Palm Hotel, Accra Ghana; a project that is to now continue in the different states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
International Financial Reporting Standard IFRS is the template of Law expected by an Accountant of a company to possess in it financial report. Both the company and it accountant now have a priority over others in the finance and banking industry as IFRS is mandatory for all businesses.
Lateefat Yusuf Tephat, a part 2 student of accounting department and participant of the training course told LFB she has learnt a lot of things she didn't know about the IFRS today, though also showed her disappointment over timing of the training. "I've been here since 7:00am, though the program was to start by 10:00. I had a class here by 7:00 and the training didn't start until 1:00pm" she said.
Meanwhile, the over 300 students participants are now certified IFRS persons. This is made known by Mr. Debo Ademinokan, the NUASA public relations Officer. "All participants will receive IFRS compliance certificate fully stamped by NIM". Ademinokan, said.
